When is Amazon Prime Day 2021?
Normally held in July, Amazon Prime Day 2021 is hitting our computers early, on June 21-22.
Last year, Prime Day was been pushed back, and back, and back until October 13-14 (six weeks before Black Friday). I’m a little surprised Amazon is doing Prime day this early? But I’m sure there is a method to their madness…maybe we will see an earlier or longer Black Friday this year?
Are there good deals on Amazon Prime Day?
I’m a big fan of Amazon Prime Day because after carefully tracking Prime Day for the past five years, I’ve seen many Prime Day deals that beat Black Friday prices.
Here are five reasons that I think YOU should get the bulk of your Christmas shopping done on Amazon Prime Day 2021 (Plus 33 Great Gifts you should grab!)

5 Reasons you should get your Christmas Shopping done on Amazon Prime Day 2021
- Avoid shipping delays: Amazon Prime Shipping still isn’t back to its normal speed after the events of 2020. It is such a nice feeling to get all of your Christmas shopping completed and NOT have to worry about if or when you’ll receive a package.
- Access the best variety of products: From all I’ve heard, Amazon has been recovering from stocking only essential items in their warehouse. I’m hopeful that we will see a big variety of options available during Prime Day 2021!
- Get items before they are out of stock: In 2020, eCommerce sales jumped by 92%! This huge spike in online sales signifies a shift in how people shop, and I imagine this trend will continue. There might NOT be a problem getting items during Black Friday shopping this year, but doing the bulk of your holiday shopping in June will mean that you can get the items you need before they are out of stock.
- Save Money: Amazon Prime Day often has deals that rival or beat Black Friday deals, especially on Amazon brand products (which includes just about everything now!). Saving money is always a good idea, and we’ve seen in the last year that it is smart to squirrel away money whenever we can.
- Less Stress around the Holidays: Practice some self-care by getting your shopping done on Amazon Prime Day 2021! Knowing your Christmas shopping is done (or mostly done) will help make Christmas 2021 more enjoyable for everyone!

It isn’t much of a surprise that the biggest deals will be on Amazon products. The good news is that Amazon is constantly adding new types of Amazon brand items so you can find great gifts in many different categories.

Tech Gifts for Kids to buy on Amazon Prime Day 2021
Amazon has some amazing tech gadgets (we love them at our house). On Prime Day 2020 many of these items were discounted between 20-50%. Look for the same great discounts, and possibly even better ones on older Amazon brand models.
Fire Tablets are amazing for kids because they are durable, have amazing quality and capabilities, and the kid versions come with a year of FreeTime. We LOVE Freetime! It gives access to great apps, eBooks (picture books too) and has amazing parental controls built-in. You can even set it up so your child has to read for a certain amount of time before they can play games. My kids use the Fire Tablets to watch shows, read books and play apps and I don’t worry about them accessing anything scary or inappropriate. Another amazing benefit is their guarantee. They will replace your Fire Kids Edition for 2 years worry-free! Broken screen? They’ll send you a new one! And yes, one of my children has had theirs replaced twice.
Note: The older versions of Fire Tablet will most likely be on sale as well like the Of course, there are improvements (and bigger screen size) but if you are buying for a kid they will still love the older version!

Echo Dots are quite inexpensive (and even cheaper on Amazon Prime Day 2020) and my kids use theirs for lots of things: to play fun games (Alexa has thousands of skills, lots for kids and some really fun educational ones), jam to music, listen to awesome bedtime stories, and to ask Alexa very important questions. My son calls my phone from his Echo Dot when I’m not at home, and one of my favorite things is that I can make announcements to EVERYONE’S Echo Dots (time for dinner, time for bed, help me bring in groceries), from my Echo OR my Alexa app on my phone.
Two of my kids have basic Kindles and I recently upgraded my 13-year-old daughter to the Kindle Paperwhite (lighted screen for reading at night!) for her birthday present. This Kindle Kids Edition includes the 10th generation Kindle, a cover, the complete Harry Potter Book Series plus the first book from another popular kids book! If you have Amazon Prime, these Fire TV products like a Fire TV Stick or Fire TV Cube (voice activated!) will let you access not only Amazon Prime Video on any television, but also other streaming apps like Hulu, Netflix and tons of others! It is an affordable alternative to something like an Apple TV. These are really simple to set-up and also travel well.
The Echo Show is one of my favorite gadgets…I look up recipes, listen to music, play music trivia while loading the dishwasher, listen to audiobooks, check the weather, watch Amazon Prime shows and “drop in” on my family (we can see and chat with each other, super fun!). This would be an awesome gift for parents, grandparents and college students.
Ring Doorbells have historically gone on a deep discount on Amazon Prime Day and I expect they will again. These make a great gift for adults including grandparents! There are lots of Smart Gadgets (in a range of prices) that will be priced excellently on Amazon Prime Day 2021. If you haven’t tried an Alexa enabled device HOLY COW it feels like you are leaping into a new time! Some other smart gadgets taht would make a great gift are Smart Garage Door Opener for your husband,
Smart Plugs are another great gift idea, they were on sale during Amazon Prime Day last year for a great price. Plug something into them (lamp, Christmas tree, small appliances) and then you can operate them by voice using your Alexa devices! We set up a smart plug for my in-laws that has their lights set up to turn on with a certain schedule at night.
Kitchen Appliances on discount on Amazon Prime Day 2021
Kitchen Appliances have ALWAYS been discounted on Prime Day, and I’m sure they will be again this year.
Instant Pots have always been a sure thing (and usually a deep discount!) I also think that there is a good possibility for a discount on the very popular Ninja Foodi (pressure cooker, air fryer, slower cooker and dehydrator!). Also look for smart coffee makers (Alexa compatible) like this one.

In past years we have seen crafting items like: lettering markers, on sale, art sets, liquid chalk markers, vinyl for Cricut and Silhouette machines, Brother Sewing Machines, Sharpies sets and gel pens.
