If you have a teen boy on your gift list, a good suggestion might be to look at his hobbies and interests. It’s important when doing this to take your gift ideas a little farther than just the standard things needed for that hobby because chances are good he will already have them! I have a teen basketball player at my house and I’ve come up with a list of 13 of the Best Gift Ideas for Teen Boys: Basketball Edition. Most of these have been tested and enjoyed by my son…your basketball player will love them too!

Basketball Gifts to Help Him Improve His Game
ShotTracker– This is an incredible tool that combines tech with sport and will let your basketball player view, track and improve his stats. It comes with two sensors…one that hooks to the basketball net and the other goes in a special wrist or armband. As they shoot, the shots they make and miss are shown and recorded in an app. When we were considering this for our son we looked at another option that has a tracker inside the basketball. We decided to go with the slightly more expensive Shot Tracker and are thrilled with how well it works. Not only does it allow players to see how many shots they make from specific positions, but it also includes workouts to help improve certain aspects of their game. Teens will LOVE feeling like a pro and knowing their shooting percentages and parents will love that they can see progression and what skills their kid could use some work on.
D-Man Defensive Trainer– This is a hands-up defensive mannequin that lets basketball players practice defensive skills by themselves including dribbling, shooting over the top of another player, breaking around players and more. These are light, easy to move around, and have adjustable height.
Basketball Dribble Trainer– This highly rated trainer comes with sticks to create multiple heights for basketball dribbling practice. Improving ball handling can make a HUGE difference in a player’s game.
Agility Ladder– These ladders are used in training for many different sports, and are amazing for building basketball players dexterity and fast footwork. You can find lots of YouTube videos with agility ladder drills to try.
Resistance Parachute – Besides agility, basketball players need speed. This resistance parachute will help basketball players build up their speed which will help them on the court.
Forearm Strengthener-A tiny contraption that helps strengthen the muscles necessary for “palming” the ball.
Wood Plyo Box– You might have heard of a Jump Box. No one will argue with the fact that basketball players need to have superior jumping skills. This super cool box is THREE boxes in one. Turn it onto other sides to make it different heights. This will help strengthen leg and core muscles and increase vertical jump heights for your player.
Guided Workout Playing Card Deck– This 56 deck of cards has illustrations and drills for basketball players. They are an easy and inexpensive way for your teen to have direction during his basketball workout.
Dribble Specs – These look a little funny but are made to help your baller dribble without looking down.
Basketball Gifts for fun
Mini basketball pump– My son got this as a gift from his buddy. He loves having it in his basketball bag so he can keep his ball perfectly inflated.
LED Basketball– This basketball is SO much fun! My son loves to take his outside for night basketball games. The light turns on when you dribble and the off when you aren’t using it.
Dirty Dunk Laundry Hamper– We got this for my son (and I’ll admit kind of for me!) for his birthday and he has loved it! First off, this thing is HUGE. Seriously, it can hold a ton of laundry. It also has a drawstring at the bottom to empty the dirty clothes out which is helpful. It has helped immensly with my son putting his dirty clothes INTO the hamper. All of my kids like to try and make a basket so this hamper would be a great gift for lots of different ages and kids!
Fun basketball Socks- When their uniforms are on, socks are one way for players to express their individuality. My son especially loves Nike Elite’s and these bacon and egg socks are pretty funny.
Inspirational Book– Steph Curry is a player that is hard NOT to like. Kids love his amazing shots, and parents love that he is an awesome role model. This book talks about all of the hard work Curry has done to become the player he is today.
There you have it…13 “epic, money” gifts for teen boys: basketball edition. (My son’s suggested words for this title). Haha!
