There is an old English poem and tradition that brides use for good luck, “Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue, a sixpence in your shoe.”
This Bridal Shower Gift Basket Ideas is inspired by that classic poem and has a little bit of advice in the form of “something borrowed,” and adds lots of “Something Blue” gifts to go with it!
I remember when I first got married, I was SO excited to be in charge of the housekeeping of my own little place. Too excited in fact…and insisted on doing all of the chores around the house! Now I’m the mom of three boys who will one day be husbands and I want them to be helpful partners. All of these things combined in my head when I came up with this “Something Blue” gift idea. At the center of this gift are “His & Hers Chore Cards,” which have chore check-off lists. The happy bride and groom can shuffle the chores and divide them evenly. What kind of gifts do you give for a bridal shower?
First off, don’t stress out too much about the type of gift you are giving for a bridal shower! As long as it is for the bride, you really can’t go wrong. Bridal shower gifts can range from items from the wedding registry to household supplies to something spicy for the wedding night (wink wink!).
What’s the difference between a bridal shower gift and a wedding gift?
The biggest difference between a gift for a Bridal Shower and one for the wedding is the price. Typically you will spend the bulk of your wedding budget on the wedding gift. Some people use a 20-20-60 Rule, where you take your entire gift budget and divide it into percentages. 20 percent for an engagement gift, 20 percent for a bridal shower gift and 60 percent for the wedding gift.
So if you planned to spend $200 on the bride and groom, you would spend $20 on an engagement gift, $20 on a bridal shower gift and $160 on the wedding gift. (No engagement party? Combine the money and get a bigger bridal shower gift!)
I think gift etiquette rules can give you a good estimate of how much to spend, but I think 1) you should NOT go into debt for a gift, 2) creativity can make up for a lack of funds and 3) it’s the thought that counts.

What are Creative Bridal Shower Gift Basket Ideas?
Find a way to package some fun gifts in a cute basket to make a wonderful bridal shower gift.
For the “Something Blue” bridal shower gift basket you will first need find an adorable basket to put the supplies in. Here are a few fun options:
First, I printed off the Chore Cards double-sided and laminated them so the newlyweds can check off and wipe-off completed chores.
Next, I gathered blue cleaning products which was way easier than I expected!! Did you realize that approximately 90% of cleaning products are blue? 😉 Seriously, I had TOO MANY blue cleaning products! Some of the products I included are:
Holloway House Quick Shine Floor Cleaner
Lastly, I added a cute label that says “Something Blue” (taped to the top of a wooden kebab stick) and a “Something Borrowed” that explains the gift basket. (You can print these from the Free Gift Printables Library too!). Here’s the finished product, useful and fun!
There’s my “Something Borrowed, Something Blue” Bridal Gift Basket. I think it is a creative and useful Bridal Shower Gift Basket Ideas. What do you think? Would His & Hers Chore Cards have helped you out when you first got married? Maybe you need them now? 🙂
